How to make it

Steps in our own plain words.

  1. Place the green beans in a big pot, and drizzle with olive oil.

  2. Season with salt to taste.

  3. Put the lid on the pot.

  4. Cook over medium-high heat, until beans are cooked to your wanted doneness.

  5. Stir every so often.

  6. Syrians like it cooked till your green beans are turning brownish in color.

  7. The idea is not to cook them, but to let them steam in your moisture released by the ice crystals.

  8. Add cilantro plus garlic to the beans, and continue to heat until the cilantro has started to wilt.

  9. Eat as main course by scooping up using warm pita bread or dish up as a side dish.

On the side: Green salad

A side we added to round out the meal. It is not part of the original recipe.

How to make it (10 min)
  1. Rinse the salad greens. Slice the cucumber.
  2. Put it all in a bowl and toss with the dressing just before eating.
