- 4 oz sugar
- 15 oz milk
- 2 oz sugar
- 5 egg yolks
- 3 eggs
- To taste dulce de leche
Spices & seasonings (1): vanilla pod
- 1 vanilla pod
How to make it
Steps in our own plain words.
-
For your caramel place 4 oz of sugar in frying pan without any fat plus melt on medium heat.
-
Try not to mix using a spoon, but swirl the pan itself.
-
Let melt till you have an amber color plus sugar is fully melted.
-
Fill the bottom of four flan containers using it.
-
Caramel will harden right away, so you need to be fast.
-
My containers yield about ½ cup each.
-
Turn the oven on to 300°F plus look for casserole or container all four flan containers fit into.
-
Heat milk using 2 oz of sugar plus the cut and scraped out vanilla pod.
-
The milk does not need to boil, needs to be heated.
-
Take out vanilla pod after some minutes.
-
While that cooks, stir the egg yolks and eggs, try not to mixed in any air in it.
-
Them pour milk-mix in egg-mix and again only stir very.
-
Pour into prepared flan containers.
-
Place these into your casserole or container.
-
Boil water.
-
Pour the water into the large casserole.
-
Be sure not to touch the flan mix.
-
Place on middle rack in the oven.
-
Let bake for about 35-40 minutes.
-
An inserted toothpick should come out clean.
-
Let cool inside your container for an hour before transferring to your fridge.
-
Chill overnight.
-
The next day release the rim.
-
Turn upside down on a plate.
-
Dish up using some dulce de leche on the side.
