  • 2 eggs
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • ⅓ cup butter
  • ⅔ cup flour
  • Splash water
Spices & seasonings (3): cardamom, nutmeg, salt
  • ½ tsp cardamom
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt

How to make it

Steps in our own plain words.

  1. Whisk the egg and sugar till the mixture thickens.

  2. Melt the butter.

  3. Let it cool slightly.

  4. Add the butter to the egg mixture.

  5. Mix in spices.

  6. Slowly add your flour while stirring to avoid lumps.

  7. Let your batter rest for at least 30 minutes.

  8. This improves the texture of the krumkaker.

  9. Spoon around one heaping tablespoon of batter on iron and bake.

  10. If your batter is too thick, add water to it.

  11. While still hot, shape your krumkake using wooden krumkake roller or over a cup.

  12. The krumkaker harden quickly, so you can let them sit on the roller/cup till your next krumkake is ready to be shaped.

  13. After fully cooled, store your krumkaker in metal or glass tin lined using paper towels at the bottom.

  14. Also freeze them.
