- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- ¾ cup butter
- 1 ½ cups flour
- Splash water
Spices & seasonings (3): cardamom, nutmeg, salt
- 1 ¼ tsp cardamom
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- ¾ tsp salt
How to make it
Steps in our own plain words.
-
Whisk the egg and sugar till the mixture thickens.
-
Melt the butter.
-
Let it cool slightly.
-
Add the butter to the egg mixture.
-
Mix in spices.
-
Slowly add your flour while stirring to avoid lumps.
-
Let your batter rest for at least 30 minutes.
-
This improves the texture of the krumkaker.
-
Spoon around one heaping tablespoon of batter on iron and bake.
-
If your batter is too thick, add water to it.
-
While still hot, shape your krumkake using wooden krumkake roller or over a cup.
-
The krumkaker harden quickly, so you can let them sit on the roller/cup till your next krumkake is ready to be shaped.
-
After fully cooled, store your krumkaker in metal or glass tin lined using paper towels at the bottom.
-
Also freeze them.
