Main ingredient

  • 1.1 lb ground beef

Fresh & other

  • 1 bread roll
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 ⅔ oz breadcrumbs

Sauces & oils

  • ⅓ cup + 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Spices & seasonings (1): marjoram
  • Pinch marjoram

How to make it

Steps in our own plain words.

  1. Soak your bread roll in your milk so it softens completely.

  2. While that cooks, fry your onion in your oil for around 8 mins until soft and golden.

  3. Add your fried onion to your beef mince along with some seasoning, marjoram, garlic and the egg.

  4. Squeeze your excess milk from the bread roll.

  5. Add it to the mince mixture.

  6. Mix everything together.

  7. Season well.

  8. Divide the meat into 8 patties.

  9. Tip the dried breadcrumbs in a shallow bowl plus coat the patties in it, all over.

  10. Heat oil in a deep frying pan.

  11. Fry your patties in batches on both sides till brown and cooked through, around 6-7 mins on each side.

On the side: Green salad

A side we added to round out the meal. It is not part of the original recipe.

How to make it (10 min)
  1. Rinse the salad greens. Slice the cucumber.
  2. Put it all in a bowl and toss with the dressing just before eating.
