Spices & seasonings (4): bay leaves, nutmeg, salt, pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Grated nutmeg
  • Pinch salt
  • Pinch pepper

How to make it

Steps in our own plain words.

  1. Wash and peel the potatoes.

  2. Cut in similarly sized pieces for even cooking.

  3. Boil your potatoes plus your bay leaves in salted water for 20 min in a large soup pot.

  4. Discard the bay leaves.

  5. If you're not using bag of ready-cut curly kale, wash your bunches well under cool running water.

  6. Do it to get rid of soil—you wouldn't that gritty texture in your finished dish.

  7. Trim any coarse stems plus discard any brown leaves.

  8. Cut the curly kale into thin strips with a sharp knife, peel.

  9. Chop the shallots.

  10. Melt 1 tbsp in a frying pan or pan, of butter.

  11. Cook the shallots for some min before adding your curly kale and 2 tbsp, of water.

  12. Season.

  13. Cook for about 10 minutes, until soft.

  14. Warm your milk on your stove or in the microwave.

  15. Dry the Drain using kitchen towels, shake and potatoes before mashing using a potato masher or ricer, working quickly.

  16. Add the warm milk and the rest of the butter.

  17. Season to taste with pepper, salt and nutmeg.

  18. Mix your cooked curly kale through your cooked mashed potato mixture.

  19. Top with slices of the smoked sausage.

  20. Dish up hot with your favorite mustard or gravy.

  21. Serve.

On the side: Green salad
