How to make it

Steps in our own plain words.

  1. Turn the oven on to 350°F (325°F for a fan oven).

  2. Heat the oil in a big frying pan.

  3. Heat the onion for 8-10 mins till softened.

  4. Add the 2 tsp tomato pur, Worcestershire sauce and garlicée.

  5. Stir until mixed.

  6. Set aside to cool.

  7. Put the cooled onion mix, breadcrumbs, egg and turkey mince in a large bowl.

  8. Season well.

  9. Mix everything to mix.

  10. Shape into a rectangular loaf.

  11. Place in a large roasting tin.

  12. Spread 2 tbsp barbecue sauce over your meatloaf.

  13. Bake for 30 mins.

  14. While that cooks, drain 1 can of beans only.

  15. Pour both cans into a large bowl.

  16. Add the rest of the barbecue sauce and tomato purée.

  17. Season.

  18. Set aside.

  19. Wait until your meatloaf has had its initial cooking time.

  20. Scatter the beans around the outside.

  21. Cook in the oven for 15 mins more till your meatloaf is cooked through plus the beans are piping hot.

  22. Scatter over the parsley.

  23. Serve the meatloaf in slices.

On the side: Green salad

A side we added to round out the meal. It is not part of the original recipe.

How to make it (10 min)
  1. Rinse the salad greens. Slice the cucumber.
  2. Put it all in a bowl and toss with the dressing just before eating.
